Turn your phone into a metal detector. Metal Detector reads your phone's built-in magnetic sensor and shows nearby metal on a big analog gauge — the needle climbs, the beeping speeds up, and the phone vibrates harder as you get closer.

Sweep your phone slowly over a surface. When metal comes near, the magnetic field around it is disturbed, the needle jumps, and a large METAL DETECTED alert appears on screen.

CALIBRATION MAKES IT WORK Hold the phone still, away from metal, and tap Calibrate. That sets the current magnetic field as your zero point, so the Earth's own field and any fixed metal nearby are cancelled out. Only new, local disturbances register as a signal. Recalibrate whenever you move to a new spot.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN Everything runs on your device. No location is collected, nothing is uploaded, and no internet connection is required to detect.

IMPORTANT — HOW IT WORKS Metal Detector estimates nearby metal using your phone's built-in magnetic (magnetometer) sensor. It detects changes in the magnetic field and cannot replace a professional VLF/PI metal detector. Readings are affected by speakers, magnetic cases, other electronics and vehicles, and non-magnetic metals such as stainless steel and aluminum may respond weakly or not at all. Sensor quality varies between phone models.
